Partners and Contributing Work

BCTMO Conservation Club and our family have extensive experience representing the tourism industry on provincial initiatives for over 100 years including:

  • The Guide Outfitter Study, Conduct of Ethic and Angling Guide Policies.
  • BCTMO Conservation Club sat for 8 years at the Lillooet Land and Resource Management Plan table.
  • BCTMO Conservation Club has worked closely with the provincial government including the Ministry of Parks, Forests, Lands, Environment, Fish and Wildlife on provincial initiatives related to wilderness tourism.

  • BCTMO Conservation Club helped provide direction for the BC Angling Guide Policies and Regulations Committee, BC Wildlife Viewing Policy and Regulation Committee, The Cariboo Chilcotin Allocation and Quota Committee and  the creation of the South Chilcotin Mountain Park Designation 2004 and the management plan in 2012.
  • Since 2008 BCTMO Conservation Club has worked with the Chilcotin Ark Institute and still supports their work today.

BCTMO Conservation Club works closely with related tourism associations including sector, regional and provincial agencies that legislate and manage wilderness tourism operators. We have been closely associated with many of these agencies for many decades. The associations include:

  • The B.C Guide Outfitters Association
  • The Wilderness Tourism Association
  • The BC Guest Ranchers Association
  • The Thompson Guide Outfitters Association
  • The Council of Tourism Associations
  • The Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism Association
  • The BC Fishing Resorts and Outfitters Association
  • The Vancouver Coast Mountains Tourism Association

 

BCTMO Conservation Club is also a member and supporter of many international groups promoting wildlife conservation and works with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Wild Sheep Foundation (formerly Foundation for North American Wild Sheep), Ducks Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Foundation, The North American Moose Foundation, The Mule Deer Foundation, Safari Club International and more.

Guide Outfitters Association of British Columbia

The Guide Outfitters Association of British Columbia is committed to a strong and stable guide outfitting industry in British Columbia that offers the highest quality wilderness experiences and professional standards in North America. The Association is committed to the promotion and practice of wise conservation management and use of all natural resources.

The Association seeks to improve laws governing or affecting the guiding and tourism industry in BC, and to protect its members from unfair and discriminatory legislation. The Guide Outfitters Association of British Columbia (GOABC) represents the majority of guide outfitters in British Columbia, Yukon and Northwest Territories.

The Wild Sheep Foundation is dedicated to keeping sheep on the mountain.

It does this by promoting professional wildlife management, educating the public about wild sheep and the conservation benefits of hunting, encouraging fair chase hunting, and protecting sportsmen's rights.

The North American Hunting Club was started to give hunters a way to meet and share ideas, tips and hunting stories.

The NAHC boasts podcasts, TV shows, radio shows, books, DVDs, contests, give-aways and a Web site dedicated to hunters and their passion.

Safari Club International is the leader in protecting the freedom to hunt and in promoting wildlife conservation worldwide. They are a leader in hunter education and wildlife conservation, preserving wildlife for the next generation of hunters.

Their many chapters provide a way to make and gather with friends, their Convention is a place to celebrate and enjoy our hunting heritage, and their Foundation is recognized as a world leader in wildlife conservation and education programs.

Chilcotin Ark Institute

The Chilcotin Ark Institute creates a working landscape concept and management for viable species populations in the Chilcotin Ark. They conduct projects and research involving interns, volunteers, universities and guests. The tool the Chilcotin Ark Institute uses for measuring the success of their conservation efforts is to achieve maximum wildlife population numbers for the habitat‘s potential carrying capacity, this being the indicator for sustainable land management.
