Black, Cinnamon, and Colour Phase Black Bear
Traditional lodge-based bear hunts are spot-and-stalk by vehicle and foot, where we catch them feeding on the first green grass when they are concentrated in the valley bottoms. This hunt can also be done in the fall in the berry patches.
Expedition wilderness cabin-based bear hunts by horseback are available in June, where we spot-and-stalk bears on the open alpine meadows, as they move up the mountains. This hunt can also be done in the fall as an add-on tag to all other species.
Bear season runs mid April to mid June, then opens again in September to November. Hunters can take 2 black bears each so these are 200% opportunity hunts. We have 50% black and 50% cinnamon colour phase bears, with hides averaging 6 to 7 feet (1 to 2 metres). The hair is long thick winter hair, with no rubs.
Testimonial “The outfitter was exceptionally well organized and polite, and the guides have great knowledge of the area’s species as well as others. Throughout the week, many bears were seen, allowing us to be choosy with regards to both size and colour of the animals.” WI, USA
